This was the largest donation by the former students to IIT Kanpur. Former student Udai Pratap Singh said the batch would provide financial assistance for scholarship to needy students. He said the 1972 batch had been considering to provide Rs 5 lakh to the institute. Two students, Kamal Aggarwal and Rakesh Gandhi, had promised $ 1 lakh each for establishing the faculty chairs, the biggest ever donation to create chairs. Motorola, IIT Mumbai Tie Up For Research ActivitiesMobile handset manufacturer Motorola has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, for a joint research in Next Generation telecommunication technologies. The wireless and broadband communication major is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Mumbai, under which Motorola researchers will work with the institute's faculties for research and development initiatives on application of Next Generation Technologies, the firm said here today.
