Breathtaking stunts by Air Force lends befitting conclusion to Techkriti

Four paratroopers jumped from a Dornier flying at the height of 6000 feet. They came down with great speed upto height of 4000 feet and then they opened their colourful parachutes to float down to the sports ground of the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K). Hundreds of visitors were eagerly waiting on the grounds to see the daring Indian Air Force personnel and members of the world renowned Akash Ganga group on Sunday.

Leading the group, Wing Commander Arun Marwah told Express Newsline that the team had arrived at Chakeri Airport from Delhi exclusively to perform for IIT-K on the occasion of the biggest science and technology festival of the institute, Techkriti 2007. It was informed that cloudy weather led to shortening the programme, which otherwise included human formations in mid-air and sky diving.

IIT-K director gets extension

IIT-K director gets extension Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here, Sanjay Govind Dhande has been given an extension of five years after expiry of his term last month. HC dismisses petition challenging location of IIT The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed at the admission stage itself a petition challenging the State Governments decision to shift the venue of the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to Medak district from Basara in Adilabad district. Dismissing the petition filed by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Venugopalachary, the Bench comprising Chief Justice Mr Justice G S Singhvi and Mr Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy observed that it was a policy decision of the Governemnt. Unless the petitioner was able to prove violation of any vested Constitutional rights, the court cannot interdict the
