Cabinet expansion around Pongal : YS

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy indicated that the State Cabinet would be expanded some time around Pongal, next month. During his Delhi tour, he told newsmen that after the Assembly sessions there would be Christmas and New Year holidays. Later, the cabinet may be expanded, he said.

He denied the reports that he has decided to accept the resignation of Sports Minister M Satyanarayana Rao, who submitted resignation owing responsibility to the partys defeat in Karimnagar by-poll. The Congress High Command was seized of the matter, he said.

IIT Kanpur gets funds from alumni The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here has received financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh in USD from its 1972 batch graduates in order to create two chairs. This was the largest donation by the former students to IIT Kanpur. Former student Udai Pratap Singh said the batch would provide financial assistance for scholarship to needy students. He said the 1972 batch had been considering to provide Rs 5 lakh to the institute.
