IIMA, first B school in India to set up International Advisory Council

The Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad has decided to set up an International Advisory Council for the institute like leading universities and business schools abroad.

IIMA is the first B-School in India to have an International Advisory Council. While such bodies do not have any decision-making powers, they function as purely advisory bodies.

It will have leaders from the fields of education, business, management and academia with wide international experience and perspective. It’s mission would be to examine, discuss and recommend IIMA’s long-term strategic orientations.

The Council could hold its meeting once every year or as need be. Members of the Council would normally be appointed for a period which would cover at least three meetings. Membership would be by invitation.

The Board also approved the proposal for Setting up a Centre for Infrastructure Policy and Regulation at IIMA. Over the last 6 years, IIMA has completed 45 Research Projects, 34 Working Papers and 46 cases in the area of infrastructure.

IIMA faculty have initiated, edited, and authored four India Infrastructure Reports (IIRs) in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. Major part of this work, which was sponsored by the Infrastructure Development Finance Company, was contributed by IIMA faculty..

Currently, IIMA offers several elective courses on infrastructure in all its long duration degree-level programmes like PGP, PGP-ABM, PGPX and FPM.These substantial efforts of IIMA faculty over the last eight hears have now crystallized in to this Centre for Infrastructure Policy and regulation. The objective of the Centre is to promote research, training, consulting within IIMA in the area of infrastructural development (1) through generation of projects and funds for research, (2) through teaching and training, and (3) through publication of books, journals, and articles.

IIT-Kharagpur to go by centre's directive

Premier technical institute Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Kharagpur) on Tuesday said it would strictly adhere to the directive of the Centre on admission for the new academic session and it has enough time as the new session would begin in August. We will not do anything without the directive of the Centre, Prof S K Dubey, Director of IIT, Kharagpur, told the media. 53,000 fewer IIT aspirants this year While the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are gearing up for expansion, the number of students aspiring to get into these hallowed institutions has dropped dramatically this year. There is a drop of almost 50,000 applications for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) this year as against the nearly three lakh students who competed for 4,078 seats last year. IIT confirmed the design of Sabarmati River Fron Development

Tests by National Institute of Hydrology and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee have confirmed that the design of Sabarmati River Front development project is perfect and it can withstand worst fury of Sabarmati River.
