IIT enters politics Finally!

IIT enters politics Finally!

Here is some positive news in politics. Finally, the intellectual class seems to be waking up and taking on the political mess – an effort in Uttar Pradesh by some graduates aimed at reforming the chaotic setup in the corruption-ridden state. Across the border, Imran Khan had formed a party consisting of intellectuals to initiate a social change for the better in Pakistan. The result: a dreaded defeat.

Now, its the turn of some IITians to stand up for the society in UP. A group of IIT grads have taken up the resolve to clean up the dirty politics in the state. The Bharat Punarnirman Dal has one objective. Its time to put the countrys politics on the right track, they say. The party is contesting 20-25 seats in the forthcoming UP Assembly elections. And, students and academicians have welcomed this Rang De Basanti inspired initiative taken by the bunch of students.

It was long due. It is a one-of-its-kind initiative that merits applause. For a long time, we have seen the educated class sitting and criticising politicians. Let them take the mantle and see what it is, Parikshit Thorat of NCP Youth wing feels. Punes huge student population is charged up because of this news. I think that some young graduates from Pune should also do something like this, says Ankush Nadkarni, a third year student.
