IIT Kanpur gets funds from alumni

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here has received financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh in USD from its 1972 batch graduates in order to create two chairs.

This was the largest donation by the former students to IIT Kanpur.

Former student Udai Pratap Singh said the batch would provide financial assistance for scholarship to needy students.

He said the 1972 batch had been considering to provide Rs 5 lakh to the institute. Two students, Kamal Aggarwal and Rakesh Gandhi, had promised $ 1 lakh each for establishing the faculty chairs, the biggest ever donation to create chairs. (Agencies)

IIT-M study on air pollution Indian Institute of Technology-Madras is studying the ambient air quality in the city under the `Emission Inventory and Source Apportionment study commissioned recently.
