IIT-Kgp develops instant soluble tea

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has developed a secret method to brew instant Darjeeling tea, just like coffee. The Food and Agriculture Department of the institute is currently in business talks to transfer the technology for instant soluble tea. The Copper Brown tea powder will hit the market from mid-2008 if the negotiation with the two Bangalore based tea companies is fruitful.

What one needs to do is, just to stir a pinch of the powder into a cup of hot or cold water, with sugar or milk to taste. Only about 2.5 grams of tealeaves can prepare a cup of tea, the same amount of soluble tea can make six cups. Hence a pinch of tea powder is enough to brew one cup.
