IIT-M study on air pollutionIIT-M study on air pollution Indian Institute of Technology-Madras is studying the ambient air quality in the city under the `Emission Inventory and Source Apportionment study commissioned recently. The study is focussed on the impact of vehicular emissions and industries on air quality. The 18-month-long study should be over by February next year, said a senior official of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. A similar study by the TNPCB in 2003 found that vehicular emissions were the major contributor to air pollution. The draft second Master Plan prepared by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and made public on Wednesday refers to the 2003 study. It said the major contributors to Chennai air pollution load are vehicles (71.28 percent) and industry (19.7 percent). The TNPCB study had also mapped areas where the amount of suspended particulate matter was the highest. It includes T. Nagar, parts of Saidapet, Choolaimedu, Vadapalani, Royapettah, Egmore, parts of Adyar, Teynampet, parts of Tondiarpet, Koyambedu, Purasawalkam, Mandaveli, Mylapore and George Town. In addition to the pollution caused by the vehicles, unpaved roads lead to collection of sand on the roadsides, causing dust to rise, the study said. Source : hindu.com

Work on Section 2 of the project, on a 3-km stretch between Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Powai, and Kanjurmarg, had been moving at a snail’s pace because of the IIT’s reluctance to release 10,000 sq-mt land. The MMRDA has now proposed special compensation for the IIT to take the project ahead. The technology for building invisible, or stealth aircraft, is a closely guarded secret of developed countries and a handful of laboratories in India are doing research in this area. Radars that emit pulses of microwave radiation identify flying aircraft by detecting the radiation reflected by the aircrafts metallic body. The nanocomposite coatings developed by Rahul Sharma, R.C. I was attracted to buy one non-stick tawa on sale. However, when I went to return it within 24 hours, I was shown a small placard hidden behind some large pressure cookers. It did state that there was no sale return or exchange on non-stick cookware, but how are the buyers to Made in IIT lab, Darjeeling tea as quick as instant coffeeMade in IIT lab, Darjeeling tea as quick as instant coffee For those who turn up their noses at tea bags, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is about to reveal a secret method to brew instant Darjeeling tea, just like coffee.
