IIT-Powaii student commits suicide

A fourth year BTech student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Powaii on Saturday committed suicide inside his hostel room, police said.

Shrikant Mullappa (22), an electrical branch student committed suicide in the IIT campus before noon and this was discovered late on Saturday evening, Assistant Commissioner of Police (western region) region Bipin Bihari said.

The suicide was ascertained when some friends of Shrikant broke into his room after repeated attempts at getting in touch with him failed.

IIT-K begins appointment process THE INDIAN Institute of Technology (IIT-K) has started preparations for making appointment of teachers after receiving green signal from the Union Ministry for Human Resource and Development. The ministry of environment and forest (MoEF) has given nod to the Brinhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for converting forest land for the middle Vaitarna dam.
