IIT to come up in Medak district

IIT to come up in Medak district

It is now official. The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) will come up at Kandi in Medak district, and not in the temple town of Basar, in Adilabad.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy told presspersons on Sunday that the Government had accepted the recommendation of the three-member high-power committee that had gone into the issue of the IIT site, favouring Medak.

He said the committee had analysed the strengths and weaknesses of the two sites and submitted its observations. It also raised some pertinent issues, which needed to be addressed. The committee comprising R. Natarajan, former Chairman, All-India Council of Technical Education, N. Balakrishnan, Associate Director, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and Rajiv Sangal, Director, International Institute of Information Technology, presented its 27-page report to the Government.

Motorola has reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai. As per terms of the MoU, Motorola researchers will work with IIT Mumbai faculty to boost R&D initiatives around the application of Gen-Next technologies.
