IITians venture beyond fav subjects, take law seriously

Law and IITians, an unimaginable combination? Not anymore. IITians are looking beyond mundane sectors like finance and technology and venturing into law. Leading legal process outsourcing (LPO) firms now employ IITians too. And its a trend that could well change the course of law studies in the country.

We have several IIT graduates in our company with different backgrounds and years of experience. These IITians work along with patent lawyers to draft patent applications by evaluating their authenticity, said Sanjay Kamlani, co-CEO, Pangea3, an LPO firm. Its not just IITians, engineering graduates from other colleges also sense a career opportunity in this field.

Agriculture engineering in proposed IIT sought Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked the Union Human Resource Development Ministry to include agriculture engineering as one of the core branches of the proposed IIT. DoT draws up plan to bridge digital gap The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has mooted a proposal to set up seven telecom centres of excellence (CoEs) to nurture the sector and reduce the rural-urban digital divide.
