Infratech 2006 to be held in AugustThe targeted eight per cent growth of the Indian economy can be attained if focus is shifted on infrastructure development, said M S Ananth, director, IIT Madras. He was speaking at the recent media meet to announce the planned Infratech 2006, a three-day international expo-cum seminar on Surface Transportation, Emerging Opportunity and Technology. The seminar is to be held on 17-19 August at IIT Madras. According to Ananth, India emerged as a major power in the last five years. With proper use of its manpower, India can speed up the development of the infrastructure facilities. Good infrastructure facilities would be of advantage to Chennai, he added. To be organised by the All India Manufacturers Organisation in association with IIT Madras, the expo is expected to draw around 250 delegates from all over the world.
