Innovations come to light at IIT Delhi project exhibition

Wheelchair with toilet facility, mechanical grinder and foldable bus step are some of the innovations of the IITians showcased at an exhibition that began here today.

Majority of the projects displayed by the students immensely benefit the old, handicapped and rural women.

An innovation that could help the physically challenged is a wheelchair that has a portable toilet attached to it. The seat of the chair can be opened while sitting by sliding a part of the seat. A bin has been placed beneath the open space that can be cleaned separately.

Man Injured In Fire Linked To Welding Accident

A three alarm fire sent a homeowner to the hospital with second and third degree burns Tuesday. The fire ruined a barn and several tractors in a Washington County neighborhood. Firefighters say controlling the flames was difficult and they called for back-up from at least four area departments. Fort Calhoun Fire Chief Brent Grove says, "IIt was difficult due to its remote location and no nearby fire hydrant. The nearest hydrant was half-a-mile away." IITB grad bags $90,000 In IIT Bombay, the lime tastes sweet. A BTech (computer science) student of the institute has bagged a whopping $90,000 annual package from the US-based Lime group, a financial services and technology conglomerate.
