K-9 Cops Take Top HonorsThe state recently held a competition for law enforcement and two members of the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office took top honors. Each year in Boise, a contest is held that tests a multitude of facets in police work, drug searching, apprehension, area search and agility. But for these two, their partners will say above being top notch at their jobs the bond they form is unparallel to any other team. Deputy Jeremy Tasum calls six-year-old Kihon the perfect fit for the department; full of energy, high spirit and loves what he does. Deputy Jeremy Tasum, Bannock County Sheriff’s Office: “They think it’s great, iit’s a big game to them to go out and search for drugs or search for people, they love it.” Kihon is a Belgium Malinois and recently took second place at the state K-9 conference; Rex works with Deputy Clint Brown and took first. The conference evaluates how the dogs handle real life scenarios like agility or in this case drug search and seizure. Deputy Clint Brown, Bannock County Sheriff’s Office: “What would take an officer – a good – at least an hour to search a vehicle very thoroughly; a K-9 can do it in a matter of 5 to 10 minutes.” Officer and dog train together over 10 hours a week, going over drills again and again so real-life and training blend into one. But after work, unlike other teams, this one stays together. Deputy Jeremy Tasum: “They live at our home, seems like they are almost part of our family.” But unlike many a family pet, these dogs obey on the first breath of a command. A partnership, say the deputies, that brings confidence, trust and reassurance to the field. Deputy Clint Brown: “Seems like nowadays the world is becoming more violent and doesn’t seem that uncommon that people – they don’t seem too hesitant to fight with an officer. A lot of time you get a dog on scene, they are inherently scared of dogs not to mention a trained dog.” The dogs competed against K-9 units from all over the state. Source : http://www.kpvi.com/

However, city transport planning is still marked by huge ad hocism. The city bus system is affordable, but that’s about it—it is sadly inadequate, tiring to use and unreliable, even as the registration of cars continues to multiply. Delhi still has more vehicles registered than the other three metros together. As for the other components of multi-modal transport, they aren’t there.
