Medical plan for IIT hostellers afoot

Medical plan for IIT hostellers afoot

INDIAN INSTITUTE of Technology (IIT-K) has proposed to introduce a novel plan to keep the students living in hostels fit by providing them medical assistance under an instant medical services plan.

Under the plan, selected students of the Institute would be trained as student-doctors in the hostels to take care of the sick students. To create well-educated student-doctors, the Institute has proposed to hold a medical workshop on February 16. This would be the first of its kind workshop ever held at the Institute.

The workshop will aim at imparting first aid training to about 120 students of the hostels so that they could effectively provide the required medical help to the students who fall sick during odd night hours and to shift them to the health care centre on the campus was not possible immediately. The plan also aims to save time in providing medical help and to discourage self-medication practice among the students.
