Mumbai To Host Meet Of IIT AlumniThe PanIIT Alumni Global conference is sheduled to be held in Mumbai from 23 to 25 December. The mission of the meet is to ‘Inspire IIT’ans to involve and transfrom India,’ said Ashank Deshai, event chairman, at a press conference held here yesterday. The PanIIT organisation was formed with a vision to help the IIT and IIT alumini, three years ago. The three major objectives of the board are to achieve nation-building, branding, alumni services and advocacy, he added. The earlier global conferences were held at San Jose in 2003, New Delhi (2004) and Washington (2005). The two principal sponsors are Videocon and SBI. The organisers expect around 500 participants from abroad. In the earlier IIT Global Conferences the key speakers were the President A P J Abdul Kalam, Sunil Mittal, chairman, Bharathi group, Jack Welch, former CEO of GGE, Dr Larry Summers, president of Harvard, Bob Brown, Provost of MIT. Sessions with various topics like ‘Building India into knowledge economy’, ‘Getting the governance you want’, ‘learning from successsful entreperneurs’ will be dealt in the conference.
