Seminar on Surface Transportation

An international exposition-cum-seminar on ‘Surface Transportation - Emerging opportunity and technology’ will be held here from August 17 to 19.

Announcing this at a press conference, K E Raghunathan, Chairman, All India Manufacturers Organisation, which is organising the event with IIT-Madras, said around 250 delegates and 100 exhibitors will participate in the event.

Malaysia would be the partner country for the seminar and China for the exhibition.

Job fair, partner sourcing, auction of used machinery and sale of reconditioned machinery will also be conducted during the event.

At the end of the third day’s programme, a roadmap will be prepared for enhancing expressways and road infrastructure and will be sent to the government, he said. (Our Correspondent)

AGITATING students of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur have adopted the surname ‘Bharat’ against the proposed reservations for OBCs in higher education. “From now onwards, students would use ‘Bharat’ instead of their surnames,” spokesman of Forum of Indians against Reservation (FIR) of IIT Kanpur unit Rahul ‘Bharat’ said. Agriculture engineering in proposed IIT sought Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked the Union Human Resource Development Ministry to include agriculture engineering as one of the core branches of the proposed IIT.
