The leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) have expressed resentment over the issue of shifting the location of the proposed IIT from Basara, Adilabad , district to Medak district in Andhra Pradesh.

The government, however, is said to be firm on its decision to set up an IIT in Medak district, considering that Medak is well connected by all means of transport.

IIT-K develops software for employers, job seekers A TEAM of scientists headed by Prof Jayanta Chatterji of the Industrial Management Engineering (IME) Department at the IIT-K has developed a new software for providing two-way information to the employers and the job seekers. The new system has been named as Shramik(Labour) Mandi. According to Prof Chatterji the new system would eliminate the presence of human mediators in locating the required number of skilled or unskilled workers by any industry or any other office. The Union Budget has belied the hopes of the State for an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The State has been pressing the Centre for an IIT for quite some time. It has also been seeking a Central University. The UDF Government had taken some initiatives for getting an IIT established at Vithura in Thiruvananthapuram district. However, after the present Government came to power, Palakkad was proposed as an alternate location. The resignation of A.E.
