Multiple grade I winner Sweet Return has been established as the 5-2 morning line favorite among seven marathoners set to contest the 68th running of Santa Anitas historic San Juan Capistrano Invitational Handicap (gr. IIT), the $250,000 turf fixture at about 1 3/4 miles that concludes the tracks 85-day race meeting on Sunday.

The longest grass stakes race in North America, the storied event – whose past winners range from Seabiscuit to John Henry – takes on additional significance this year.

Although he has never raced beyond 1 1/4 miles and hasnt won a graded stakes race since back-to-back grade I victories in Hollywood Parks Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap and Del Mars Eddie Read Handicap during the summer of 2005, Sweet Return enters the San Juan with a decided pace advantage.

IIT-K director gets extension Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here, Sanjay Govind Dhande has been given an extension of five years after expiry of his term last month.
