Y4E members to protest at Parliament

SPEARHEADING THE anti-reservation campaign in the country, members of the Youth For Equality (Y4E) will take out a Bharat Samanta Yatra and will also stage a demonstration at Parliament on the first day of Monsoon Session.

The bus yatra will start from Mumbai on July 15 and will end in New Delhi on July 24, at the start of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Participants from all over the country, comprising engineers and medicos, would assemble at Ram Lila ground. They will also gherao Parliament.

Talking to newsmen on Wednesday, IIT-K student and state in-charge of Y4E Chandershekher Sharma said, A two-day meeting of the forum was held in Hyderabad on July 8 and 9 last where it was decided to take out a Bharat Samanta Yatra in protest against the proposed reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions.

The yatra would reach Kanpur on July 23 and a public meeting would also be held to raise awareness among the masses against reservation, Sharma said.
Five members from Mumbai wing of the forum would be permanent members of bus while during the course of journey, state representatives would join the yatra in their respective states.

Further informing about the meeting, Sharma stated that three representatives from each state took part in the meeting.

Sharma said, A candle-light procession will also be taken out all over the country at 6.30 pm on July 20.

A human chain would also be formed on July 22, all over the country at 6.30 pm, Sharma informed.

About the organisational structure, Sharma informed that a National Coordination Committee had been formed and the entire country had been divided into six zones.

North zone would comprise of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and zone two would consist of New Delhi. The central zone would comprise of UP, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. The east zone would consist of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and North East. West zone would consist of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat while the south zone would consist of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Members of the Y4E also informed that in order to streamline forums working six committees have been formed, which included finance, media and negotiations, legal, research and analysis, web designing and public awareness. These committees would have six members each.

Members of the forum also informed that they would adopt one primary school and develop it as a Model School to set an example for the Union Government.
